Grab a hot cup of coffee while I grab the hidden snacks, and let’s chat homeschooling…

Hey There! I'm Amanda!

There’s one thing I know for sure…

Letting go of societal pressures and creating a learning lifestyle centered around your family is the best way to have consistency, balance, and joy within your homeschool.

Too often, homeschoolers waste time and energy (which let’s face it, we don’t have) trying to figure it all out. You’re probably spending too much time…

  • piecing together resources to reach each of your children’s ability levels
  • agonizing over which curriculum will be best
  • wondering if you’re doing enough and what more you can do

… all while trying to balance your housework and homeschool. And maybe, just maybe, you can stay awake for an hour after the kids go to bed just to have some uninterrupted time to yourself.

What I end up seeing all the time is way too many homeschool moms frustrated and doubting if they can really do this homeschool thing.

They constantly ask themselves…

And eventually, they decide to throw in the towel because maybe this whole homeschool thing wasn’t meant to be.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

I have worked with thousands of homeschool families, like you, who are at that sweet spot of “I really want this to work” and “Is this ever going to work?”

Maybe you have:

  • created strict schedules and/or looping schedules
  • bought every planner imaginable
  • used timers, thematic bins, and lists
  • felt like you are doing ALL THE THINGS

… and you really are trying, and with the best of intentions!

BUT THE SECRET? THE THING THAT WILL ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE? IS STARTING WITH THE RIGHT FOUNDATIONS.

Think about all those programs you have bought and haven’t taken action on; all the guides and freebies that are sitting on your virtual shelf collecting dust. I can almost guarantee that most of them started you at step 5, when what you really need are steps 1-4.

WHAT ARE THOSE FOUNDATIONAL STEPS?

This stuff sounds obvious- of course you need all of this. But my guess is that if you are doing everything and nothing is working- you’re guilty of skipping these steps. Don’t worry though! Most homeschoolers skip these important foundational steps and jump right into curriculum only to fail at the beginning. But that’s why I’m here to help you.

I’M OPENING MY DOORS TO ALL THOSE WHO…

I have seen time and time again how when homeschoolers focus on the RIGHT things in our work together and nail these foundations, they make more progress in just a few weeks than they have in the past 6-12 months.

I am SO not into promising you overnight success (because if that was really possible I’d be a millionaire right now). A successful homeschool is all about creating a learning lifestyle, not replicating school at home.

As you can probably tell, my vibe is way more “hang out on the couch cuddling with a good book or take a hike through the beautiful autumn forest”, versus “sitting down at the table to get your school work done as quickly as possible”, and I know what you’re really after is a homeschool that you and your children actually enjoy, that gives you flexibility and freedom to actually live your life.

So if you're ready to...

SO WHAT’S MY STORY, YOU ASK?

WHY DO I CARE SO MUCH ABOUT HOMESCHOOLING AND EDUCATION? WHO AM I TO BE HELPING YOU WITH THIS?

I’ve had the privilege to work with some amazing homeschoolers who have learned how to let go of the control and trust their child’s unique learning timeline.

So I know first hand how the most well-intentioned parents can get stuck, overwhelmed, and frustrated when they spend hours planning only to have their kiddo spend less than 5 minutes on the activity.

In order to move forward, it’s essential that you break that pattern because controlling what your child learns is truly limiting their potential.

Teaching homeschoolers in our community how to let go of that control allowed them to follow their child’s true passions and see deep, concentrated learning.

I’m honored that these homeschooling families chose me to help them enjoy their days and foster a strong love of learning within their children.

But to be honest, I didn’t always have this figured out.

I used to be a 4th grade teacher. The teacher who followed a plan and told my students what to learn and when to learn it. I expected them to be successful even if what they were learning was of no interest to them.

This journey of child-led homeschooling began in my last year of teaching 4th grade.

This year was different. I was entering the school year as a new mommy and it was really rough.

I had this one student who was really behind in reading. A first grade level to be exact.

I struggled that whole year and so did this student.

Yes, some of his assignments were modified, but not to the extant that he needed them to be in order to be successful.

He was pulled out of my class for an hour and a half every day, and I only had him for 2 hours to begin with.

During this time he was pulled out, he was getting special services to help him catch up. But again, these things were not modified to the level he was at.

At no time during the day, was this student getting materials to learn at the level he was at. And instead of getting ahead, he was falling further behind.

My new mommy eyes were sad. All I kept thinking about was “what if this was my daughter?”

I left the public school system that year.

I couldn’t sit back another day watching this child cry and struggle. I knew what he needed to be successful but my hands were tied.

He needed me to meet him where he was and slowly move him forward at his own pace.

He was capable of getting caught up and being a strong reader, but if, and only if, someone was able to meet him where he was and let him decide when he was ready to move forward.

That’s the day I vowed to always meet my kids where they are and help guide them from their starting point.

And today, my children and many others that I have worked with over the past few years are above the normal standards in all areas of development.

Not because I forced them to learn.

Not because I had a learning plan.

But because I created an environment that encouraged them to learn what they wanted in their own time.

But most importantly….

We have fun learning together.

My entire life, and my kids’ too, changed (heck, it started!) the moment I chose to follow their lead and focus on building a strong love of learning.

So whether you:

  • Have no clue how to teach everything your child needs to be successful,
